During our son James’ first week, we noticed that he slept better when there was noise and actvity. When it was quiet at night, he just would not stay asleep more than maybe 30 minutes. It was August and we noticed he actually liked the sound of the fans we had blowing the cool air from the A/C down the hall. We then tried turning on the radio and tuning it to static. That worked great! It also helps to calm him down when he’s mega-fussy - both at home and in the car. So sometimes static can actually be useful.
November 21st, 2006 at 4:48 pm Yes the noise helped me two boys as well and we have had what is called a white noise maker. It is usually used for college to drowned out noise to be able to study in dorms. My father got it for my husband and I way before we had the boys, because I told him (ken) my husband has to have the fan running even in the winter for the noise. Like father like sons, the boys now switch the air cleaner on every night, they are 15 and 11. Hope you enjoy your holidays!
