Just a quick tip for those of you who will soon be having a baby. Create a short written plan for your child’s birth. If it’s too long and complicated, nobody at the hospital will read it. I’d keep it to a few bullets in a list and definitely less than one full page. When you are admitted to the hospital, give a copy of your plan to the staff.
Your plan should include things that are important to you during your childbirth experience. But, you must keep in mind that the birth may not go exactly as expected, so you must be flexible. The intent is to have you (i.e., the parents) discuss these things before labor begins and make decisions ahead of time before things get dramatic. It’s a bit difficult to have these discussions when contractions start, trust me.
Here are some of the things you may want to discuss and put into your plan:
Hope that helps you have a more enjoyable childbirth experience!
