Many people access their email from a personal email account at home. I’ve noticed that almost everyone seems to fall into the same trap I did for the first few years that I had internet access. Since the internet service providers (ISPs) always provide “free” email addresses, everyone uses them. The problem is that we all move or change service providers and then have to change email address. And if you use your email address to register on any web sites, it can really create a mess!
To completely resolve this issue, I never, never, never use the email address from my ISP! I never give anyone these email addresses, though I do (very rarely) check them for messages from my ISP. Instead, I primarily use Hotmail, but also use GMail and Yahoo! Mail. These are free web-based email accounts that you can access from any computer with internet access. And these email addresseses never change when you move or change providers. So, to prevent your own frustration and that of your friends and family, think about using one of these free email accounts.
Note: GMail is currently available by invitation only. If you want an account, let me know by emailing me.
