Check out the Waste of Bandwidth feature on Network Computing’s website. This episode has a short video that shows how an ultra-geek cooks an egg. By the way, I really like his alarm clock’s snooze feature.
Here’s another item for my Christmas list: a pair of Powerisers. Imagine a 400 meter sprint with contestants all wearing these? Imagine the wipeouts…actually, I don’t want to imagine that…
Like 3-D video? Sharp has a new laptop computer display that gives 3D video without the user having to wear those annoying red/blue 3D glasses.
Personally, I love watching TV, movies, and interesting video in general. Here are two new online services that let you watch TV through your PC using a broadband Internet connection: Akimbo and TVexe.com. Akimbo is like a television with TiVo (i.e., hardware), but over the Internet. TVexe is a Windows-based software application that lets you view TV programming over the Internet. I have not tried either yet, but was hoping to install and test TVexe today. Akimbo requires a subscription fee, but I believe TVexe has free and premium programming.
Speaking of video, check this out. A company called Blinkx has created a new web search capability that uses speech recognition to search for keywords inside audio and video files, including podcasts. How cool is that!
