Well, this was a fun but long weekend. We kicked off the weekend by going to my brother’s house for dinner to celebrate his birthday. Todd and his wife Kim hosted the party, complete with a steak and lobster dinner. Oh yeah!
After dinner, we departed for Allentown, PA. Why Allentown? Sharon’s cousin Karen got married! (check out the audio blog post) Well, that, and Sharon’s 96-year-old aunt passed away, so we also went to the viewing, though that was in Freeland, PA - about an hour from Allentown.
Once we had gotten a little past New Haven, we drove into a wicked thunderstorm that lasted until just inside New York State. It was probably the worst thunderstorm I’ve ever driven through with near constant lightning, pouring rain, and several inches of water across the Interstate in several places. So, that was less than fun…especially since it was already after dark, making it all a bit nerve-racking.
Interestingly, we ran into two more vicious thunderstorms coming back from PA on Sunday evening. One lasted nearly an hour, starting in Freeland just after the viewing, and the other started about 30 minutes later and lasted all the way home. We even caught some of it on video.
Anyway, that was it in a small nutshell. I wanted to write more, but no time at the moment…
