A little slow on the draw here, but we had another wedding this past weekend. Our friends Grace and Cristian were married in New York City at The Waldorf Astoria hotel. We’ve made a couple audio blog posts: before and after the wedding. Those two posts cover Saturday.
We slept-in Sunday morning since we were up until 2 or 3 AM. Check-out was not until noon, but the hotel has a storage area for holding luggage. So Danna, Steve, Sharon and I checked our bags and went out looking for lunch.
What we discovered is that right outside of the hotel, Lexington Ave was barricaded off as far as we could see and completely filled with street vendors - shopping and food! Therefore, we had another "cheap" NYC lunch ($20 for Sharon and me) consisting of two corn dogs ($4 each), a lamb gyro and bottle of water ($8) and a bag of fried dough balls in confectioners sugar ($4). Damn, was it a yummy meal!
After walking up and down Lexington for an hour or two, we grabbed our bags and hiked the half-mile or so back to Grand Central Station for the train ride home. It was hard to stay awake on the train…
…so, the first thing we did at the train station (actually the second thing…) was to buy some Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. Iced coffee! Then Danna and Steve drove us home. It all seemed to go by so quickly!
