I spent some more time in Second Life again last night. This time after reading a little about Second Life from the SL wiki and forums. I checked out a few places that seemed like they’d be fun.
I also noticed that rendering was a little better (and read that rendering is slower when there are a lot of ‘people’ around.). Also, I found taht when driving a vehicle at higher speeds (I borrowed a public hovercraft), rendering does not always keep up with the vehicle speed.
While in SL, I took a handful of snapshots (SL lets you do that - very cool). I’ve included some of the better ones here. While in the world of SL, I visited Abbott’s Aerodrome where I watched a sunset and got to some some famous aircraft and spacecraft like SpaceShip One and the Bell X-1. I also borrowed a public hovercraft and took that for a spin.
Next, I visited the Bates Motel in preparation for Halloween. There’s going to be a costume party there on Halloween (costumes required). Anyway, I walked through the Bates residence. Kinda cool.
Finally, I explored Midnight City. There’s supposed to be trick-or-treating there. I saw some cool architecture and took a stroll through the park. Oddly, I saw only one person there.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to more exploration. And maybe I’ll actually meet some people. Believe it or not, I’m even shy about meeting new people online when I can “hide” behind my avatar. Whatever.
